Pamplona is the capital city of the Navarra, with a population of 200,000. It is much better off economically than the rest of Spain. One of my 1st stops was the old city and the Cathedral. It doesn't look much from the outside, but is certainly beautiful on the inside. The present Cathedral was built in 1501, but is on the site of many other churches, and the history of the land goes back to the founding of the city by General Pompey in 76BC.
Pamplona is also famous for its Bulls and the annual racing of the bulls through the city streets on the Feast of Saint Fermin in July each year. It is a very historical city, especially the old parts.
I am conscious tonight is New Year's Eve (already New Year in anew Zealand). It will be a quite one for me. It is too far out to be part of anything and be able to get back afterwards. See you all next year!
