A slow start today. After breakfast, just some time visiting Fatima. I was impressed by the size of everything - the main basilica has seating for 9000. I was also impressed by the architecture and the sculptures and modern paintings. There is a full day of activities in various places. I would like to have mingled more with actual people who come to Fatima but was really not able to. Apart from that, it would just be another town.
I left Fatima about 11.30am for the 90 minute bus trip to Lisbon. I then found my way to the scene of the 1998 World Expo. I passed by it on the 1st day of the Camino, but did not have a change to really appreciate it. I also wanted to try out the Sky Lift and a Tile Exhibition.
The 1998 World Expo site was exciting and I got to go on the Sky Lift as it was a lot cheaper than I had expected. The. The long walk to the Tile Exhibition seemed to take several hours, but was worth it. It was now a bit of a race to get to the airport, as, although it was close, it required a couple of buses. I arrived at the airport 2 hours before departure rather than the asked for 3hours. But all went well.
My Emirates flight left Lisbon for Auckland, via Dubai at 9pm Tuesday.
