I woke up at 8.15am this morning so must have needed the sleep. Breakfast was included but quite a conversation to work out what was offering. I had an egg omelette and coffee. A good start. I was surprised to meet Colin and Sandy, the Australian couple who I last would have met about -0 days ago. Also met Laura from Portugal who is doing a shorter version.
Today, with yesterday, have been the 2 most satisfying days on the Camino thus far. Just under half has been on what is called natural pathways, just under half on secondary. roads, and only 2 percent on highways. The Maryland pathways has been mainly silt with a clearing of winter leaves. So beautiful and enjoyable to walk through. Different walkers passed me by but it was still to have someone for s time to pass myself by. I met Colin and Sandy at 2 cafe stops, and it was good to catch up on all that had happened in our different journeys on the Camino.
Coming into one village I could hear classical music. Being a Saturday, things are a little bit different. People are out walking their dogs, there is less traffic, especially trucks on the road. For the 2nd day there is a completely blue sky. Still cold at times, in fact wearing my groves would have been a good idea.
Finally about 5.30pm I reached Padron. Very quiet. I was having trouble finding somewhere to stay. Then I found the Tourist Office and I was directed straight away to a hotel. Once again it was under E30. I went out to a Galacian restaurant and had one of their specialities. To me it was like mussels but nicer and. Beer - all for E8.
Reflection Point: Today I was walking past a primary school and the word Hullo or Welcome was written in many languages. As I was looking I came across 'Kia Ora' and felt really excited. It was as if I was been acknowledged. It made me think of our individual sense of identity and self worth. Do I value who I am!
