Prayer Time
The loss of life in Gaza and Ukraine weigh heavy on our hearts, as does the continued conflict. We want the fighting and loss of life to stop but know there is little we can do. What we can do though is pray.
Next Friday the 3rd of November, our parish will dedicate itself to prayer for those who have died, for the conflicts to end and that peace will be restored. This time of prayer will start with Mass at 11:15am Friday morning and will finish at 9am Mass Saturday. The Church will remain open during this time.
You are asked to make a commitment to come to St Joseph’s Church during this time and to pray for this intention. You can do this as individuals, as a family or a group. There will be some prayer resources available, or you may want to pray the rosary or the stations of the cross. We ask that you make a commitment to pray by writing your name next to the time you will be praying on the list in the foyer before next Friday.
While it would be good if you can come to the church to pray, if this is difficult for you, please consider praying at home. Prayer knows no boundaries and God will bless our communal prayer. If any group in the parish would like to lead a time of prayer, please let Barbara in the Parish office know and this will be advertised. If you are a night owl and can make a commitment in the early hours of the morning, please consider doing so. This will mean there will be a presence in the Church all the time. We will have a peace candle in the Church and hope to keep it alight for the period we are dedicating to this Prayer for Peace.
